Adventure lovers now have a new attraction to experience in Metro Vancouver as the brand-new Grouse Gravity Coaster officially opens at Grouse Mountain.
The highly anticipated mountain coaster welcomed its first riders on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, giving guests the chance to speed through the mountainside while taking in panoramic views overlooking Vancouver and the surrounding North Shore mountains.
The gravity-powered attraction was first announced in 2024 as part of the mountain resort’s growing lineup of year-round outdoor experiences. Construction on the project began in 2023 and was completed ahead of Grouse Mountain’s centennial celebrations this year.
Stretching across more than 1,400 metres of track, the permanent coaster descends through forested terrain beside The Cut ski run with multiple twists, turns, and drops along the route. Riders can reach speeds of up to 45 km/h while navigating themed sections of the track, including areas named “Nose Dive,” “Tailspin,” and “The Chimney.”
The ride also includes a return ascent system that carries guests back to the mountaintop without needing to leave their coaster cart.
According to Grouse Mountain representatives, the new attraction was created to expand the resort’s outdoor adventure offerings for both locals and tourists visiting Vancouver throughout the year.
The coaster was designed and manufactured by Aquatic Development Group and constructed with support from North Construction. Environmental assessments and slope stability studies for the project were completed by BA Blackwell.
Safety features on the coaster include anti-collision technology and track sensors designed to maintain safe spacing between carts throughout the ride experience.
The attraction is suitable for a wide range of ages, although riders must meet specific height and weight requirements. Solo riders must be at least 132 cm tall, while younger children between ages three and eight can ride with an accompanying adult if they meet the minimum height requirements.
Located near the Lumberjack Show area on the mountain, the Grouse Gravity Coaster is expected to become one of the resort’s most popular seasonal attractions this summer.
