Not for the weak—but the view at the top makes it 100% worth it.
Things to Note:
How long is it?
It’s a 2.5-kilometre trail up the face of Grouse Mountain.
How should I prepare?
Bring lots of water especially on a hot day, as well as electrolytes. Carry light as you’re going to be climbing stairs that go up, so don’t want anything weighing you down, and don’t forget bug spray!
What the terrain like?
Lot’s of rocks, lots of stairs, and hilly so take some good shoes!
The Grouse Grind is one of Vancouver’s most famous hiking challenges. Often called “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster,” this steep trail is a favorite for fitness lovers. The hike takes you through dense forest as you climb your way to the top of Grouse Mountain. It’s a tough but rewarding experience, especially when you reach the summit and see the incredible views. Many hikers treat it as a workout, while others go at their own pace. At the top, you can relax, grab food, and take in the scenery. A gondola ride down is available if you don’t want to hike back. If you’re looking for an intense but iconic Vancouver activity, this is it.
